Question 11 of 30

How do I choose a good care home?

Start by checking CQC reports and visiting in person. Look at staff interaction, cleanliness and general atmosphere. Ask questions about staffing ratios, how care plans are reviewed, and how the home communicates with families. A good home will welcome your questions. The CQC rating gives a starting point, but the visit tells you more.

Visit more than once and at different times of day — a home can present very differently on a planned tour compared to an unannounced afternoon visit.
