Question 12 of 30

What is reablement care?

Reablement care is short-term support to help someone regain independence after illness or hospital discharge. It is focused on rebuilding ability rather than doing tasks for someone. It often lasts up to 6 weeks and may be provided free of charge by the local council.

Reablement is often not mentioned unless you ask — if someone is being discharged from hospital, ask the discharge team specifically whether they are eligible.
